...howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing. (Nehemiah 13:2)

Did you ever wonder what God’s point of view was on the many hardships, disappointments, and disasters that plague our lives? If so you’re not alone. Many people wonder why God allows bad things to happen to good people. It is part of our nature to wonder, to question, to try and ‘figure out’ the "why’s" in life.

Perhaps you have a question on your heart today that you have never been able to get an answer too, if so please consider carefully what the Bible is saying. The "curse" is a reference to an attempt by Balak to defeat the children of Israel by having Balaam place a curse on them. When Balaam tried to curse the Israelites, God Himself intervened and told Balaam that he could not curse them because He (God) had already blessed them!

When that didn’t deter Balaam, God sent an angel (Num . 22:22-ff) that caused Balaam’s donkey to throw him to the ground. In anger, Balaam took his staff and hit the donkey three times. Then God touched the mouth of the donkey and caused it to speak. (Num. 22:28-30) It took some convincing, but Balaam finally figured out that once God blesses something, it will always be blessed! In Numbers 23:8 Balaam says; "How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? Or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?"

As Christians we have been blessed, we have been called out as a special people. God has put His hand of blessing upon us and nothing the devil or the world may do can impede what the Lord desires for us. We may feel ‘cursed’ because of things that happen to hurt and hinder our Christian lives, but when God saved us, He also so placed His seal upon us that says "HANDS OFF" to the devil.

The only curse we are subject too is our own foolish ways. The devil has no control except that which we give him. The world has no power over us, except that which we allow. The curse of sin was broken when we accepted by faith the work that Jesus did at Calvary. We are now sealed unto the day of redemption by the Holy Spirit, we have the blessings of God upon us because we are part of the Bride, the Church. Don’t let the devil fool you into believing that he can take power over you, because he can’t. God the Father is ever diligent to protect and provide for His children and if He has to send an angel or cause another donkey to speak it is certainly within the realm of His power.
